2022 Race Hit List

Here’s where you should expect to see me this year. There is an abundance of races out there and in the past I have been like a moth to a flame never really knowing which one to choose. So I have picked a HIT LIST. I’m not expecting to get them all done but they all help towards a goal of focussing on the races that all lead to becoming fit enough to take part in the CCC at the end of August. Kirkstall Calverley Cutter: Last Chance Weekend

So far we have had 75 people (and 1 dog) bag a time on the KCC - despite the 3rd UK lockdown followed by a bit of flooding. It’s been dry as a bone out there at times and now it’s drying out after one of the wettest Mays I can remember!

So to celebrate the closing of this course we’re having a bit of an informal run day this Saturday 29th May. (note the race officially closes on Monday 31 May)

The plan is to meet at 9am at Wyther Lane Car Park - LS5 3BP. This is a large enough area and close to the starting Milestone for access to set off in socially distanced groups / pairs or solos to race or run in your own time as you would at any other time during the GPXGP. Whether you have run already and looking to improve your time, or to bag your points before they’re locked in, or if you are just after a social run you are all welcome. The weather forecast is looking FABULOUS!

I will be there to say hi and set you off around 9:15 and then out on the Calverley loop to cheer you on.

We hope to make these dos a recurring theme whilst we are unable to host official races. We hope you will join us this coming Saturday!

Note: This is not an event, just an informal meet up. As covid restrictions ease we hope to be putting on official events very soon, fingers crossed!

Some BS - Shadwell Re-Shuffle

A bit of a reshuffle of the race series due to a slight concern illustrated in the image above.^

Regardless of whether i’ve ever seen a bull in this field or whether this is this is a public path I have decided to re-route the NEW Shadwell Shuffle route so IT DOESN’T go through a field where there might be a bull. :D

The re-routing has added about a kilometre and thus disqualifies it from being a ‘beginner friendly’ Green League Race. So the Shadwell Shuffle will now be part of the GPX Grand Prix - Blue League. Like before It will open on May 1st. We Need To Talk About Chevin has now been moved to the B8 position and will open in September.

Taking its place in the Green League will be another brand new race called Gledhow Valley. A short and fast route through it’s namesake, more on that to follow!
