ultra running should be for everyone
what is into ultra?
into ultra aims to give more people the opportunity to participate in ultrarunning. It was formed by a group of ultrarunners who enjoy ‘going long’ and the benefits it brings:
physical and mental well-being
sense of community and new friends
more confidence
fun (yes, honestly)
Ultra races are typically over 50km / 30 miles long, and may be on roads, paths, trails or across mountain bogs.
Our goal is to improve access to UK race start lines for everyone. We particularly want ultrarunning to better reflect society: currently women, ethnic groups, those with disabilities and lower income groups are all under-represented in ultrarunning.
We provide a range of freely available advice and ideas to help overcome the barriers that many people face, such as a lack of familiarity or confidence, disabilities, feeling that ‘it’s not for people like me’, perceived lack of skills such as navigation, inability to afford races or necessary kit, safety concerns or not knowing how to start. Hopefully we may give a little inspiration too.
The advice includes written guides and webinars on topics such as such as nutrition, choosing an event, psychology, navigation as well as signposting to where other help is available.
Alongside the advice and information available to everyone, into ultra also provides additional support such as free race entry, one-to-one coaching and kit. This is enabled by our wonderful partners donating or discounting services as well as into ultra’s funds covering costs. This support is directed at those who will most benefit. Take a look here about how to apply.
We aim to provide our support in an inclusive and sustainable way.
